A seven mile circular walk, this route explores the countryside, farmland, villages and sections along the Trent & Mersey Canal Boating The Cheshire Locks, the long flight of locks which drops the canal down from Stoke-on-Trent to the Cheshire Plain, have been mischievously renamed 'Heartbreak Hill' by generations of leisure boaters. Turn left and then immediately right down Cuckoo Cage Lane. Descend to a wooden gate, cross the access road to Smiths Hill Cottages and go through a metal gate.
